Introducing Forensic Science
of law-abiding people from less-scrupulous individuals found around the
world. There are always people willing to ignore the rights of others to get
something they want.
Since the beginning of recorded history, there have been references
to crime and punishment. For many centuries, fighting crime was largely
based on word of mouth and eyewitness accounts. The only way to solve a
crime in the first few thousand years of written history was to find a person
who saw the suspect committing the crime. Other types of evidence were
unheard of. Without an eyewitness, most crimes went unsolved.
