The Cosby Show, a situation comedy
that ran from 1984 to 1992, is viewed as
one of the most successful television
programs ever. The comedian Bill Cosby
developed the show to present an
African-American family that all
television viewers—regardless of their
race—could relate to. Cosby played a
doctor who was married to an attorney.
Their five children had the same
problems that most kids go through,
from writing book reports to sharing a
roomwith a sibling. The Huxtable family
was proud of its African-American
heritage, which was celebrated in many
episodes. The Cosby Show is still seen in
reruns on television.
