W hile Smith was successfully starring in a
television program, he did not want to
give up recording. The two careers kept
him busy, but he felt he could handle it. “I’m doing the
show from nine to five,” he said. “And from six until
midnight I’m in the studio working on an album. As
long as I get my eight hours of sleep, I’m fine.”1
