What does a daddy
longlegs have in common
with a spider? Not as
much as you might think.
Okay, sure, they both
have fat, round bodies.
They both have eight legs.
But that’s about it.
A daddy longlegs has just
one main body part—not two. And it only has two eyes—not
eight. You’ll never guess how a daddy longlegs hears, feels,
smells, and tastes. It uses tiny hairs and sensors on its legs.
Like spiders, daddy longlegs eat meat. But they don’t inject
prey with venom. And they can’t trap victims in a web because
they don’t make silk.
