might guess that centipedes have a hundred feet, right?
But hold on. You can’t always trust an animal’s name.
Some centipedes really do have about a hundred legs.
But most have around fifty. And some have more than three
hundred.
A millipede’s name is just as confusing. They don’t really
have a thousand feet. They have between forty and four
hundred. Just imagine what they’d look like doing a jig!
Millipedes and centipedes both
live in the soil. But they act very
differently. Centipedes move fast.
They use venom to attack insects
and earthworms. Millipedes
move much more slowly and eat
rotting plants.
