is a large, hard, beautiful crystal. It’s been cut
and polished, so it can be used to make
jewelry.
Fluorite and calcite are beautiful crystals.
But they’re too soft to be made into gems.
They scratch easily, so people don’t use
them in jewelry. You probably know the
names of some popular gems. There’s
diamond, sapphire, ruby, and emerald.
Amethyst, topaz, and turquoise are
popular too.
