Solving Crimes with Physics - page 33

All around us, our world is constantly in motion.
Introducing Physics
The Laws of Motion form the basis for much of the field of natural sci-
ence we know as physics. Technically speaking, physics is the science of
motion. Any object that can move can be examined using the principles
of physics. Keep in mind that there are objects that people cannot see.
Photons—the tiny particles of light that travel from a light source to our
eyes—move so fast that we cannot follow their movement.
Physics is a very useful science, since the motion of objects is of great
concern to many people. The theories and formulas that are the backbone
of physics have expanded over the years, as they have with other sciences.
Technology has allowed researchers to look ever closer at the physical world,
and the advances have been beneficial to everyone, not just the hardcore
scientists of the world. One way that advances in physics have been good
for the common person is through developments made in forensic science.
