Quincy Jones started out as a
musician, but he has since become best
known as one of the greatest record
producers in the music industry. Born in
1933, Jones first achieved success as a
jazz trumpet player in the 1950s. His
first stint as a record producer came in
Paris, France, in 1957, and in 1961 he
became the first African-American vice
president of a major record label,
Mercury Records. He has since written
musical scores for many movies and
television programs and has produced
all types of recordings.
By 2011, Jones had won twenty-seven
Grammy awards.
Quincy Jones
