had no splashy special effects, no wild gadgets, and
no booming explosions. Instead,
The Legend of Bagger Vance
is a drama set in Savannah, Georgia, during the Great
Depression of the 1930s. Smith plays Bagger Vance, a
mystical caddy who teams up with a golfer named Rannulph
Junuh, played by Matt Damon. The fictional Junuh is a once-
great golfer whose career has been ruined by alcohol abuse.
Bagger Vance is as much a philosopher as he is a caddy.
Much of his advice to Junuh about golf can also be applied
to life in general. Smith was pleased to be in a movie about
Golf and Back
