When we look up at the night sky, the first thing we might notice
is our Moon. It circles Earth once every twenty-seven days.
Many other planets have moons of their own. In fact, at least
168 moons orbit the eight planets. But that’s not all. In fact, it’s
only half the story.
Six moons circle three of the dwarf planets. At least 104
moons orbit asteroids. And we know of 58 moons moving
around small objects in
the Kuiper belt. That’s a
lot of moons—336 in
all! And scientists think
there are many more yet
to be discovered.
