Uranus doesn’t get as
much attention as its
neighbors. But it’s a
pretty amazing place.
A day on Uranus lasts
about seventeen hours.
A year is about eighty-
four times longer than
a year on Earth.Wow!
Say “rings,” and most people think of Saturn. But Uranus has
more. Nine rings and at least twenty-seven moons circle the
blue-green planet.
Say “storms,” and most people think of Jupiter. But Uranus
has much harder rains. Some storms produce sleet or hail made
of diamond. You can’t get any harder than that!
Uranus also has the strangest seasons. Because the planet is
tipped on its side, each pole has forty-two years of darkness
followed by forty-two years of light. Talk about extremes!
